any word where that water is even coming from? >> reporter: well, that's a good question. we definitely know that it's coming from up the hill. we're here in daly city and this is where the water is flowing down the hill and about as far as we can go because police are stopping us from going any further. not just water, but a huge flow of mud. there is apparently some sort of reservoir or water storage facility up the hill that's having a problem and it's tied to some sort of main break in the area. that according to a man that i just got off the phone with, with the water district here in daly city. this is a hillside park neighborhood where evacuations are under way. i spoke with one officer here. he's from the broadmoor police department. he said he was called in about 4:30 this morning to help with traffic control. his boots this morning completely covered in mud. he says that a center is opening up for people who need help this morning. i can tell you that water -- wastewater resources tells me that it is not flowing anymore. that's the latest word. that this started

petraeus stepped down after news of an extramarital affair broke out. here is what we know about the time line of how the events unfolded. back in early june the fbi began investigating what it described as menacing e-mails sent anonymously to a woman close to petraeus. well, the e-mails allegedly came from paula broadwell, who the fbi later discovered was having an affair with the cia director. well, the fbi wrapped its investigation on november 2nd after it interviewed petraeus and broadwell. but "the new york times" reports the fbi concluded there was no evidence petraeus committed any crime or breached any security problem. on election day the fbi notified james clapper, he's the director of national intelligence, about the investigation. the next day he told people in the white house. that was clapper. but the president wasn't informed until the following day, november 8th. lawmakers have expressed anger they weren't informed earlier about the investigation. here is dianne feinstein, who chairs the senate intelligence committee, today. >> this thin
